Allows the optional deletion of superimposed faces when a larger area face is available.
A larger area is defined as a layer having features participating in a smaller area layer while none of the smaller area layer’s features participate in the larger area.
You can easily visualize the effect of this option using a Parcel layer composed of Parcel and Subdivision features and a Subdivision layer composed of only Subdivision features:
-
With this option de-selected for the Parcels layer, place a Subdivision. Notice that both a Parcel and a Subdivision area feature have been inserted in the file.
-
Now, with this option turned on for the Parcels layer, place another Subdivision. Note that only a Subdivision area feature has been inserted in the file.
-
Place a parcel line across the above Subdivision and you will see 2 Parcel area features atop the original Subdivision area feature as the topo faces are no longer superimposed.
