Cadastre Options Dialog Validation Tab

Contains controls used to specify the validity of topology.

SettingDescription

Requires parcels contain the minimum area specified to be valid.

Minimum Length

Requires boundaries be the minimum length specified to be valid.

Minimum Angle

Requires vertices be the minimum angle specified to be valid.

Check for Isolated Nodes

Searches for nodes that are not connected to an edge.

Check for Isolated Edges

Searches for edges with one or both end points not connected to another edge.

Omit SI faces

Allows the optional deletion of superimposed faces when a “larger area” face is available.

A “larger area” is defined as a layer having features participating in a “smaller area” layer while none of the “smaller area” layer’s features participate in the “larger area”.

You can easily visualize the effect of this option using a Parcel layer composed of Parcel and Subdivision features and a Subdivision layer composed of only Subdivision features:

  1. With this option de-selected for the Parcels layer, place a Subdivision. Notice that both a Parcel and a Subdivision area feature have been inserted in the file.

  2. Now, with this option turned on for the Parcels layer, place another Subdivision. Note that only a Subdivision area feature has been inserted in the file.

  3. Place a parcel line across the above Subdivision and you will see 2 Parcel area features atop the original Subdivision area feature as the topo faces are no longer superimposed.
